Foodlink and the Greater Rochester YMCA highlight a partnership that provides meals to the city’s market in market, at a time when leaders see the most need.
Following the collaboration, 22,000 pounds of food have been delivered and 7,000 meals were served in the past year – which has had a significant impact on families who have trouble reaching both ends while the prices of the grocery store remain high, noted the leaders of the two organizations.
“Foodlink food and community cuisine are proud to associate with the Lewis Street YMCA Neighbourhood Center by providing both nutritious meals and a well -supplied pantry – in particular during this increased need period,” said Julia Tedesco, president and chief executive officer of Foodlink.
The partnership includes a pantry Quarter center at 53, rue Lewis, which opened in the fall.
During the first six months of the opening, the pantry made hundreds of visits, the most come during the holiday season.
“We serve more from our neighbors than ever here in our Lewis Street YMCA neighborhood center,” said George Warren, vice-president of urban services, YMCA from Greater Rochester. “Much of what’s going on here is the result of what the community is looking for. We are delighted to continue working alongside our community and incredible partner organizations to continue to develop our programming. »»
